At a glance

As a Financial Internal Control Consultant, your task is to challenge and advise the Finance departments at head office and at our subsidiaries (local and foreign). You are able to identify significant financial reporting risks and translate these into mitigating actions by designing a Control Framework. You are able to analyse IFRS/ Regulatory reporting regulations, translate these to applicable changes in the accounting and reporting process and understand the related risks and the impact on the controls.

Your job

As a Financial Internal Control Consultant you will advise ABN AMRO’s Finance management in implementing  a uniform Control Framework by adopting the harmonized Internal Control approach. Advising, improving, training, trouble shooting and implementing a robust global Finance Control Framework are the basic activities you will be doing on a weekly basis. Together with the Finance teams you are responsible for the uniform design of the Control framework and you will advise on any improvements needed.

Secondly, on a monthly basis, you will perform a review of the Control Framework’s effectiveness, based on the monitoring performed by the control owner. When you encounter findings, a root cause analysis needs to be performed and documented. You will define an action plan together with the control owner to improve the operating effectiveness of the control in the following periods. Your work performed is visualized in a controls dashboard which is shared with the finance management team.

Furthermore we expect you to perform deep-dives on topics and issues raised by management, the auditors or our Regulators. These deep-dives are mainly conducted when new regulations are issued or when certain significant changes occur within the banks landscape. Topics where Internal Control has been involved in the past include: IFRS 9, COREP, LCR, DGS, Banking Tax, Resolution Fund, Data Definitions and Quality. These projects are often done in multidisciplinary teams (Risk, Tax, ALM, Business) and are aimed at adhering to the correct application of the ABN AMRO Policies (Policy Adherence).

Overall, you will gain experience in identifying risks and designing controls. You will learn to understand the connections between different regulatory requirements and their impact on the financial process of the bank. We expect a lot from you and your team members will challenge you to become the best version of yourself. Tell us your story. We are curious!
