People Enabler Enterprise Architecture

At a glance

Would you like to become part of transforming ABN AMRO into a ‘digital first’ and data driven bank? Do you have affinity with the role architecture plays to get the bank there? And are you enthusiastic about making the most of people’s talents and optimising team performance? Then, by all means, read on!

Your job

As People Enabler, you work in close cooperation with the Head of Enterprise Architecture. Together you will manage a significantly large and valuable group of architects, covering both the business and technology side of architecture. The Head of Enterprise Architecture brings and guards the vision and overall direction for how an architecture function needs to be implemented. In line with this vision, some of the senior architects drive architecture for a specific area.
Within ABN AMRO we explicitly place architecture on the overarching enterprise level. Apart from the benefit of guiding the bank on a high level, this approach brings challenges along in terms of bringing all the highly specialist knowledge together. It creates a strong need to act and speak in ‘One Voice’. In practice, this means that architects have to not only be knowledgeable on their specific topic, but are also able to link it to other (bank-wide) topics. Obtaining this to-be state requires a change in behaviour of this influential group of people.
As People Enabler within our Chief Architect & Data Management department, it will be your responsibility to:
•    Bring about a sustainable change in behaviour and ways of working of the team of architects. You accomplish this by using your knowledge and skills to guide others. You take ownership of this. You are critical when it comes to your performance. You are able to ask for feedback.
•    Devise interventions for the architecture team as a whole, as well as for the individual employees.
•    Evaluate the selected interventions and share learning experiences with colleagues within the organisation.
•    Contribute by coaching the pool of architects to continuously improve their performance and adopt the shared way of working and teamwork. We need a strong alignment of the different architecture areas.
•    Have a direct influence on the mindset, behaviour and skills required in the team to deliver good results.

Working environment

ABN AMRO wants to be a leader in digital transformation. To support this ambition, we’ve created the Chief Architect & Data Management (CADM) department. At our department, we’re ultimately responsible for the architecture and data management of the bank. Our vision is to turn ABN AMRO into an organisation where data is turned into value, where we guide strategic change and ensure agility is in our DNA.
In this role, you’ll work in close collaboration with senior architects, and you report to the Head of Enterprise Architecture, while the non-senior architects will report to you. Together with the Head of Enterprise Architecture you will make sure the ~30 architects have a shared strategy for the enterprise architecture work, are coached to continuously improve their performance, adopt the shared way of working, and that it is ensured that deliverables from one architecture area are aligned with and supported by the work of the other architecture areas.
To ABN AMRO, investing in diversity is a worthwhile endeavour. Paying continuous attention to diversity contributes to significantly better results, innovation and job satisfaction in the workplace. As such, we aim to compose teams that are diverse and complementary. To us, diversity encompasses all aspects in which people can differ, including age, gender, labour constraints, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation. In addition, it includes differences in personalities, competencies and working styles.
