Product Owner Retail Domain Data Store

We are looking for a starting product owner that will help us achieve becoming a digital (Retail) bank. You will work in the Marketing Automation landscape where everything we do revolves around interacting with our customers in a personal way. These interactions are defined by and based upon data, driving one of the major goals of becoming a data driven bank where data is at the heart of everything.


We strongly believe that online banking should be easier, faster, more delightful, and more personal to create sustainable long-term relationships with our customers. We develop suitable solutions that give our customers greater financial control. With a vast amount of data at hand, together with our unique usability lab as test-station we build digital services in an agile way that surprise customers and help them move forward.


As a Retail bank, in cooperation with our colleagues from I&T, we have built our own cloud Domain Data Stores, which are responsible for storing, distributing and creating information on our customers from raw data available within the bank. This information lies at the heart of the Marketing Automation landscape and enables customization and personalization of our marketing campaigns.


At current there are three teams consisting of business and technical colleagues working on the DDS, in order to support the teams we need your expertise as a product owner to help us reaching our ambitious goals.

Your job

As product owner for the Domain Data Store you and your team will develop business use cases and act as an intermediate between the business teams in the Marketing Automation landscape and the technical teams at the I&T side. In your capacity as product owner you will be supported by the senior product owner to achieve our goals.


Your major responsibilities are:


  • Alignment with business stakeholders on their priorities
  • Detailing out business requests into sizable work for the Domain Data Store teams
  • Establishing the technical roadmap with product owners with the Marketing Automation Landscape
  • Determining the sourcing strategy for data that needs to be onboarded to the Domain Data Store based on the use cases at hand
  • Lead and participate in the scrum ceremonies
  • Suggesting improvements to the way of working of the teams in cooperation with the Scrum Master

Working environment

From Tikkie to personalized mobile advertising and a chatbot that really matters. At this place people work on the successful banking app as well as Grip. Here you find our E-Commerce teams and our colleagues of ‘Video Banking’. In short, within Customer & Digital Experience the online platforms are being created and built that offer all the digital products of ABN AMRO Retail. All of these developments and products are powered by the data & analytics of the Center of Expertise Advanced Analytics & Data (CoE AA&D). 


The marketing automation department is located in Retail Customer Digital Experience but works for all business lines and in that capacity delivers tooling for Corporate Banking, Private Banking (International), Brand Marketing and Communication and Retail.

Your profile

Soft skills:


  • Able to bridge the gap between use cases and technical capabilities by connecting people with different knowledge levels, expertises and backgrounds
  • Fast learner in terms of new SaaS tools and cloud technology (Azure stack)
  • Thinks broader than a specific tool or technology and is capable of overseeing the landscape
  • Familiarity with advanced data and information management practices, data modeling and data analysis
  • Possesses interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation skills and experience
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills
  • Expected to carry out core accountabilities with minimal level of supervision for complex tasks and no supervision for more routine matters.


Hard skills:


  • Agile Scrum/Product owner certificate or extensive knowledge of the way of working
  • Affinity with Marketing Automation solutions (paid media, analytics platforms, customer data platform etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in (computer science, engineering or marketing)
  • Experience with Cloud Data Platforms (pre) 
  • Data Modelling & Engineering Knowledge (pre)
  • Experience with (data related) cloud solutions (pre)
