Senior Advisor Regulations & Policies

We are looking for an additional colleague in our Regulations & Policies Team for the role of Senior Advisor Regulations & Policies. Regulations applicable to banks are changing rapidly and can have a significant impact on the strategy we adopt, the decisions we make and the way we work. Your job

In your role as Senior Advisor Regulations & Policies you are responsible for developing and maintaining clear and up to date risk policies, which provide a translation of the regulatory requirements to internal requirements for the business and risk organizations. These risk policies are driven by laws and regulations, the bank's risk appetite and risk profile. You will:

  • Ensure timely identification of new regulation, interpretation thereof and implementation in the bank’s risk policies, as well as ensuring the continuing compliance of the policies with existing regulation. As a senior you are also co-responsible for the overview of the overall completeness, consistency and coherence of the Risk Policy Framework.
  • Assess (new) regulations for relevance to the bank and analyse the impact of these (new) regulations on the bank and its activities.
  • Use your expertise to pro-actively give guidance to and communicate with the Risk Type Owners, business lines, Grids, senior management and other stakeholders, to ensure that new (policy) requirements are known and the regulatory change adopted correctly and on time.
  • Operate in a multi-disciplinary (project-)setting to support larger regulatory change processes and related activities. You participate in projects and contribute your knowledge. You make an inventory of the consequences of internal and external developments, make agreements with project leaders about cooperation and expectations and coordinate the progress of the work with the project leader.
  • Support the organisation with on-site inspections by and information requests from our supervisors (ECB/DNB) regarding the bank’s risk policies and regulatory interpretation and implementation choices.

Working environment

Our team is part of the larger Enterprise Risk Management Network of the Central Risk Management Division and shares capacity and knowledge within that network. The teams work in an integrated way with the colleagues of Basel Centre, as well as in multi-disciplinary teams with colleagues of the ERM Network and other Risk and first line departments within  the bank. Together with these colleagues you balance the day-to-day activities and processes for ensuring that ABN AMRO’s Risk Policy Framework is regulatory compliant and the ad hoc requests for advice from different areas and seniority levels in the organisation are addressed.

The vacant position offers opportunities to develop your knowledge of the regulatory and policy  framework in a broad context and develop your communicative skills. The way of working of the Enterprise Risk Management Network offers great opportunities to learn more about the wider set-up of risk management.

Your profile

You are a great candidate to become our new colleague, if you meet the following description:

  • You have a very good understanding of the Basel/CRD framework, with specific experience in the area(s) of credit risk, operational risk, model risk and/or market risk.;
  • You understand the impact regulatory change may have on financial institutions and are able to quickly assess interdependencies and develop a pragmatic implementation view and strategy;
  • You have a pro-active, flexible and result-driven personality, while maintaining high quality standards;
  • You have experience in stakeholder management and have the competence to explain the details of prudential regulation to colleagues with various backgrounds, experiences and seniority levels;
  • You have good communications skills, both verbally as well as written. Fluency English is required and in addition fluency in Dutch is preferred;
  • You have an academic educational background;
  • You are organisational sensitive and enthusiastic team player.
