Non-Financial Risk Specialist Business Control

At a glance

As a Non-Financial Risk Specialist, you are part of the Business Control Non-financial Risk team and responsible for (first line) risk management for ABN AMRO Asset Based Finance (ABF) with a focus on Sustainability Risk  (ESG), with a primary focus on NFRD and EBA LOM ESG within Sustainable Finance Regulations (SFR). You have an advisory role for the ABF MT and ensure compliance with internal and external laws and regulations. Your responsibility is to oversee the sustainability risk with the policy and to implement the necessary control mechanisms. You work closely together with the commercial organisation, the 2nd and 3rd line parties and other stakeholders inside and outside ABF.

Your job

You are responsible for shaping an effective and efficient first line of defence for ABF within the 'three lines of defence' model in the areas of Sustainability Risk. Within ABF, you are the expert on these risks and are responsible for compliance, advising on, drafting and implementing policies that contribute to these risks. The implementation and monitoring of the right controls within the organisation are also part of your responsibilities. In addition, liaising with the various stakeholders, being ABF departments, Commercial Banking and second and third line is part of the daily work. Currently ABF initiated a project to comply with SFR. The primary focus for this role is participating as an expert by:

•    Closely monitoring of upcoming ESG guidance and regulation from the European Commission, EBA, ECB,ESMA, DNB, AFM etc. Contribute to consultations through industry associations including the Dutch Banking Association NVB;
•    Create insight and oversight on all NFR Sustainable Finance Regulation in order to provide recommendation to ABF on impact, implementation choices, strategic priorities and timelines;
•    Perform/ support impact assessments in order to provide the recommendations mentioned above;
•    Provide advice on interpretation of regulation;
•    Contribute to internal risk control framework and more detailed requirements, gap analyses, implementation plans;
•    Ensuring good embedding in BaU of SFR regulation;
•    Linking pin with SFR expertise elsewhere in the bank.

Working environment

ABN AMRO Asset Based Finance (ABF) is internationally cross border organized and has operating companies in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. ABF is designed as a subsidiary of Commercial Banking. ABF provides Leasing and Commercial Finance solutions to small, corporate and international business clients, distributing our products through omni channel, digitally (providing standard solutions and convenience) as well through personal sales (providing a coverage model for complex solutions and expertise). 

Your place of employment is the Beneluxlaan in Utrecht. In line with hybrid working, we are open to the new way of working, which allows you to work at different locations and times. You will be part of Business Control, acting as the first line of defence. The Head of Business Control reports to the CEO of ABF. Business Control consists of five teams with 24 people which are located in all 4 ABF locations. The teams are Non-Financial Risk, Policies & Regulations, Business Process Improvement, Oversight & Reporting and Risk Measurement & Modelling.  

You will be part of the Non-Financial Risk team, which consists of about 6 Non Financial Risk Specialists. Together with them, you create the atmosphere! You will report to the Manager Non-Financial Risk.

•    HBO/ WO work and think level; 
•    Approximately 2-5 years of experience in 1st or 2nd line NFR risk management; 
•    You have knowledge of various Risk topics; 
•    You have knowledge about Sustainability Risk (SFR, ESG)
•    You have knowledge of the ABN AMRO vision and strategy and ABF in particular; 
•    You are interested in other Non-Financial Risk related topics and are willing to learn more about them; 
•    Preferably you have knowledge of Asset Based Finance; 
•    You are result-driven, self-managing, team player, incorruptible and transparent and you can work in a complex organisation. Good stakeholder management is one of your competencies.
